Daytona T595 (97-98)

Hi guys, I have a 97 T595, since i had it the mil lamp was on but the bike ran well, although a bit on the rich side. Tried to start it this morning, started then died, tried it again but the mil lamp was dead as well as the fuel pump. I swapped the relays, checked fuses, I have power at the ecu but don't seem to have a earth from the ecu to the main relay or fuel pump relay but have input earth at the ecu. has my ecu died? I'm in SA, parts are scarce here for these bikes and would love to get her running again. Any suggestions?

corrie, The ecu is a pretty rugged unit so put it last on the list of trouble shooting. An ex Triumph mechanic around here mentioned that most ecus are killed by improper charging. A problem becoming more common with age is corrosion at the ground connections. Many grounds come together at what is called the 'earth block'. It's generally to the RHS of the battery and ID'd by all of the black wires and may still have foam wrapped around it. If colored white get an updated/improved blue one. Early T595s didn't have an earth block and hopefully someone can pop in and tell you what for and where to look (I think it's around the head tube, but very not sure). Brad

earth block is near the battery on the rhs as you sit on the bike lots of black wires going in either a white or blue connection if its white it needs upgrading to the blue one may be wrapped in foam rubber take it apart and look for signs of burning

Hi guys, thanx for your replys. I've checked for the earth block but this model does not have one. I'm wondering if I cant fit a aftermarket fuel control system or carbs. Any suggestions?

corrie, I've read that you can pull failure codes with an OBDII display tool. Some pretty inexpensive units are available around here and may be worth a shot. We can help with the codes. If the MIL lamp is good, the indicator relay may be at fault (it's the tall relay in the back row). Changing over to carbs could get expensive as would another system when this problem may be something cheap to fix, just frustrating. Brad
