Good luck with the rebuild. I have a 1971 T100C, similar to the Daytona, but with a single carb and high-level pipes. It's going back together slowly. It too has cracks from the stud-holes in the cylinder head. Must be a common problem on the 500s from the early '70s.

PTOO: Must be a common problem on the 500s from the early '70s. | Twas indeed I had a 69 T100S with an eight stud head and it had the usual crack I believe the 9 stud heads were less prone to it

Strongy, You can also try Supreme in Earl Shilton Leics, they do mail order worldwide. If you're in the Triumph Owners Motorcycle club then there's a wealth of knowledge in there and they cater for the Hinckley stuff to. Also, Kent Daytonas are worth a try. I have a '78 Bonneville which is currently being rebuilt at Warlord Motorcycles in Shropshire. I know it's cheating, but I committed to it at the end of 2006 and it should be up and runnin for late spring next year. It's not standard and will go like the clappers and stop on a sixpence. I'm thinkin of a TR7RV for my next one. Will do most of the work myself and it won't be until the Bonnie is finished and my '99 Daytona has had a few tweeks.

cheers nige, i looked at them but found wilemans or hawkshaw were the cheapest for bits. got the engine back in the frame now and just drilled the new front mudguard so the tank and guards are going off for spraying this week. just a matter off putting bits back together then. i am toying with the idea of junking the old coils for a newer type twin output single coil to go with the boyer ignition at the moment

I've opted for the Pazon ignition for my Bonnie. Tis a very good system. I'm hopefully going over to see how mines progressing next weekend. Frame has been braced and box section swing arm fitted. All powder coating is done. Alloy yolks and front brace on front end is fitted. Hagon progressive springs are at the front, Hagon stainless shock / springs at rear. 13" full floating single disc with AP race caliper and master cylinder fitted. Currently the alloy guards and petrol tank are being painted but I decided on a slightly custom paint job which invloves quite a few hours. Engine and box to do, and wiring.

Result, got the bike fired up this weekend. it started 3rd kick and sounded excellent with no silencers (not sure the neighbours agreed though). motor is wet sumping a the moment so i need to strip the oil pump. new paintjob done so will put some pics in the thread when i get the mudguards fitted.
