I've been sitting about waiting for my new Sprint ST, and it came to me that a set of crash bungs would be a worthy investment.

Can anyone out there recommend a good set for the ST?

Cheers!

Got R & G's on mine, look and feel like they'll do the job, but fortunately not been put to the test yet.

having put my R&G bungs to good use 3 times, I can confer they work.

I used bikejohnny.com (sp?) and got a carbon cover set including the bungs, which also protected the sticky out alternator covers and clutch cover (daytona) they work too.

i bought some of those cheap ones off ebay, the bungs are quite good but they only go on the fairing screw, which is pointless, so i took them off. i kept them because i can make a decent mount for them on the lathe, but how do the pukka ones fit onto (im assuming) the engine mount? i cant see anything to bolt them to, its a strange sort of castle nut thingy? oh, and its a 955i before anyone asks what the f=== im on about

Take the nut and bolt of the top mounts that fasten the head to the frame. reverse the bolt so that it points out ( head in). The bolt thread will then be screwed into a threaded hole in a length of bar that you have turned. The bar will have a Major od where it touches the frame, then step down a bit to its minor od to clear the plastics . The bungs will screw into a thread at the end of the minor od.

a couple of spanner flats milled on that end of the major od before the step down necessary to torque up the head bolt.

The proper jobs have the bung end bolts annealed so they won't shear on impact. The lengths of the LH and RH bars will not be equal.

correctly fitted the base of the bungs will just clear the plastics by 3 or 4 mil.

so there you are start turning

imo, the R&G ones are by far the best. Plus after they've been on for a few days you no longer notice how ugly they are. Ebike also gives you a 5% discount on their insurance if you have R&G bungs fitted. Check around for price. I paid £135, but my local dealer said they could get them for £99

R&G: £135 is the going rate I think. You get 4 rather than the more common 2.
Buy them from a shop rather than mail order and you dont pay p and p on top! Because of the bars included, theyre in a giant bog roll tube about two feet long and four inches thick that would cost quite a few quid to post.

Local Triumph dealer sells DHMs. No idea what theyre like, other than that they appear to come in a nice tin!

Do they?

Fucking cunts didn't ask me if I had them on. I didn't think to tell them.

I feel a phone call is in order tomorrow morning. Thanks for the tip

a lot of on line quotes ask for a list of all your extras, mods and security gear but the buggers never give a breakdown of their quote.
Commercially sensitive they would say I suppose
But I dare say you could get round that by doing a request without, then one with

I dont know that it makes a lot of difference
I have R&G bungs, a Datatool alarm, Smartwater, a million ton chain and padlock, a Vishas disc lock and a locked garage
The online form had room for two items!

Does anyone do crash bungs for the ST 1050 other than R & G ? Are 4 bungs really necessary? Not only do they look odd, but they get in the way quite badly (or they did on the one i test rode the other day)

Yes but R & G's kit contains 4, for £130-odd. Does any one do a kit with just 2?
