Tim, as far as I can say this much in advance, April will be better than May PS I would hammer out a few details on here first and then go for a sticky nearer the decided date

Tim Done Portsmuff to Caen a couple of times in the car and it's not bad as it's a sleeper starting in France bright and early Just checked Brittany ferries (for march 09) and £78 return but new timetable starts April - IIRC out 22:30 arrive 8:00am (sits just outside harbour for a while as French don't let you invade too early in the mornings

sounds good to me ive just checked mileage and its 200 miles from llandrindod to portsmouth and 520 from le havre to millau. so some good riding to be had, 78 quid sounds good though.

Overnight ferry fromPortsmouth is definately the way to go. You can get on at 10.30ish, Have a few beers, then get a goods nights sleep before getting up shortly before they dock, Full English, mug (or two) of tea and your set to rock'n'roll straight off the boat. BTW, Ive been over in force 7-8 winds before and didn't notice a thing, and our cabin was in the bowels. Mind you 4 pints and a whisky more or less saw me out for the count as soon as me head hit the pillow. Failing that Sea sickness tablets shoud sort it out anyway TQ, or just go up the top shelf and drink yerself into oblivion.

Me too (although I'm not as easy as Earl ), once we know numbers and agree a date then get ferry booked. Take it from there really. Anyone want to volounteer sorting out routes (I have Garmin Maps of Europe on my Laptop). I don't mind having a go at this unless anyone already has this sorted or has a good idea of the roads/area.

So anyone had any thoughts about dates yet ? TT is a bit later this year so I shall be on the IOM between 5th-13th June which leaves April and May clear for me at the moment. Early April might still be a bit chilly - Been to Le Man in April and it has snowed, so I would plump for a date in May meself, but I'll go with the consensus

Ginger is our village idiot but a totally spot on good hearted bloke. Actually he is the one in the photos I posted about Wales, fighting on the floor with Stacy
