ok so after buying my t595 a month ago i have completed the following: oil and filter change (castrol r synthetic) new plugs new fork oil new front wheel bearings new oil pressure switch rear linkage greased (bearings need changing soon) greased clutch and throttle cables is there anything else that is likely to be f@%ked also it is as rough as hell under load below 3000 rpm and i have ordered a set of vacuum gauges to sync the throttle bodies i am assuming that is the problem but would welcome any other ideas, after 3k it goes like a stabbed rat and still gives me the meakon grin everytime i go out on it.

How many miles has it done - does it have a service history - was it in a bad state when you got it?

43k
its a 97 done 43k but had an engine rebuild at 28k ,It looked mint when i bought it but i am new to the bike scene anyway it wasn't untill i started striping bits off it (anything new has to be stripped to see how it works done it since i was 4 )i noticed problems.dealers service to 32k then independent, also had 12 months mot which is surprising with 5mm play in the rear linkage? maybe i should have walked away but i just fell for it straight away anyway done all the work myself so not that expensive.

| Man after my own heart - it's the only way to learn and to keep the stealers in their place when they tell you it's A) Complicated mate.... and B) Will cost £2000 mate..... With that kind of mileage you are in the territory of " If it was going to go, it would have gone by now. IIRC the 32k service was the valve check one ( was this done? ) - so 11k on, you're looking to do this again - 3 options here - do it yourself, take it to a ( expensive ) dealer (£500ish), or track down a GOOD independent mechanic that KNOWS Triumphs* Rear linkage bearing replacement is an expensive affair ( around 130 quid in parts alone ) - easy DIY if you can spanner, you may want to look into buying a VGC second hand linkage assembly from a breakers - try Triumph-ant.co.uk, Lynx, or Sprint Manufacturing. At that mileage I'd also seriously look at the rear shock as it's likely shagged. Either get a good aftermarket one which will be better then the original anyway ( I have a WP unit - but there's Ohlins / Penske / Wilber etc. ). Or get a good suspension outfit to rebuild the stock unit - and don't fall for the "...you can't rebuild Showa shocks mate..." line, as you can. Regarding rough running, could be a number of things - but would be worth taking it to a dealer to run a dianostic on it, upload the right tune for your exhaust, and set the CO level. * If they say " Well mate, it's bascally a Kawasaki, innit? walk away.

DAZ40, The biggest problem I had after I bought the '98 were the vacuum lines to the IAC and emission's cannister. If your idle isn't a steady 1200 RPM, worth checking. Brad

Zeus
Zeus thanks for the info I will take option 3 on the valve check me thinks will do it in the next month or so then take it to the stealers for co and check the map,I balanced the throttle bodies today and it ran lovely for about 20 mins then got worse again although not as bad i did notice adjuster screw on no 3 was a bit loose so i put a bit of silicone on it but then went straight out for a ride so it has maybe moved, Throttle bodies were miles out especialy no 3 also i will get the suspension sorted in time no real rush for that cos i am still riding like a girl (only passed my test on monday ) that sounds like a good idea about the rear linkage i will keep my eye out for a second hand one. Brad on tickover it is at rock steady 1200 rpm but thanks for the advice I will check hoses to make sure.

looks like i will be over spending again then if i go there. Lee I believe the tickover is controlled by the ecu so you will need tuneboy or take it to the stealers I am sure if I am wrong someone will tell me.

its probably your idle air control valve sticking or air leaks in the rubber hoses around this area bill
