dealertool.co.uk seems pretty good, i'm not interested in custom maps etc.. but don't like the way I have to pay on a per bike basis.. All i wanted was something to remove error codes, and to balance the throttle bodies / read the sensor info... is the tuneboy better?? Comments appreciated!

TuneBoy (diagnostics) works with any Triumph. It is only TuneEdit (tuning) that needs a key for tuning each bike. If you are only interested in diagnostics, just about any OBDII reader can retrieve/reset codes, read sensor data, etc. I won't say ALL OBDII readers will work, but even the cheap ones I have tested work on most bikes including Triumphs.

I got one off a guy on Cheep-Bay it took I little time as the guy had not tested it on a 595 only the 955. Any hooo’s he got back to me after he tested it on one and it works just fine. It told me why my light would not go out (dodgy air temp sensor!) And you can re-set some of the setting back to set point / zero all this for 30 quid! It’s 25 quid a go at my only Triumph dealer plus booking a slot and the fuel to get there and back so for now on it a money sever!!.. As to Tune-boy well they are all well and good but after I got one and then took my last bike to a dino and got it set up the thing just sat in the box till I sold the bike. So it was for me a lot of dosh for a set up tool that you still have to go onto a dino to set properly all I do now with any bike I have is to go and pay the pros to use there kit and tune it up job done .

i know there are cheap obd readers, but the dealertool seems to have a good gui to balance the throttle bodies etc... and check the diags of all switches etc.. the basic obd wont do that will they??

Your bike and you were benefiting from that setup everytime you rode it. I'm curious as to why you bought a dealertool when you your existing tuneboy would have been able to do exactly what you described without paying out any further cash?

Hi Homertrx I got the tune-boy to setup a guzzi doc 1000 and my next bike was a bim YB6 and any ways it would not have been any good for the 595 I have now.. Ho and it costs a heep for the codes to go from bike to bike.. its just a bit of a rip off when you into £200 esh to start with . but then im a scot !!

Rip off compared with £325 for a bolt on box to do the same job?

tuneboy for me was £188 not £325 and the guys i go to to set up my bikes now have between then over 170 years experience of setting up F1 engines for a living and at 150 to 200 bucks per bike I think that’s cheep.. (they got 20 bhp out of the 595 from stock!) And as i have found over the years there is no such thing as a bolt on fix just a bolt on part fix if you are lucky

£279 or £317 for the Triumph Homer. But you certainley get more with the Tuneboy without doubt.

If you want map changing ability go for the tuneboy or PCIII If you just want to service your bike, make sure its all OK and free yourself from a long journey to a dealer - then the DealerTool works well. Cant go too far wrong for the price As for the cheapy obd readers - they are very limited and often confusing as all the sensor labels are wrong - they give you only about 20% of what you need.
