Hi Guys,
Sorry if this has been asked before but..looking to buy a T-bird (TBS does not fit me - knees on Cylinder Heads
Many of the early one have had the starter clutch conversion done, but is there a date after which it's not a problem?
Thanks for any help!

Not 100% positive it was ever sorted..... the best bet is to buy an optimate and keep the battery topped up so it doesn't put undue stress on the starter clutch (sprag)

I'm 6'2" and I don't bang my knees.....!!!

Thanks Bluelabel - I have Optimates set up in the garage so no problem. It's a leg length issue, my son is the same height and the TBS fits him fine - pity, as it's far and away tastier

There were several variants on the sprag. The most notorious were the '95 and early '96 models. Get a '97 or later to be safest!

Sure thing mate! Amazing what you can squeeze in when the motivation is there, so to speak. Got room for Jamie's Speed Triple too (just), but I fear the Trophy may ultimately have to go. Couple of people wanting to buy it off me.

You're right there Dave. Just fitted the panniers and topbox and lugged all my plumbing gear to Derbyshire to rebuild my son's central heating system. Went like a dream with that full load on, eben on the A515 twisties. Overall 43mpg too. 'Twill be a sad day indeed...

T-Bird is a great bike. Might just save my licence
Had a most enjoyable ride back from Burford in the October sunshine, should have bought one years ago!

I'm not surprised Andy, nice bike, that. I'm enjoying riding the T-Bird to work, and best of all it's returned 55mpg on the first two tankfuls. Wasn't expecting THAT
