I've currently got a 02 955 and a vert low mileage 96 Trophy 900. I'm thinking of changing both to a sports tourer . . something like a Sprint. I really want to like the new Sprint but it just feels cheap and flimsey next to my current two. In particular, the pannier mounting rails seem to be cheaply finished with rough edges, something SWMBO noticed and wasn't keen on. Also, there is no where near as much pillion leg room on the Sprint compared to the Trophy. In fact, SWMBO prefers my Daytona to the Sprint What else is worth looking at? (The new Tiger is far too tall me me, esp 2 up, and it also feels cheap and flimsy by comparison)

I had same, 955 Daytona and Sprint 900 before that. I sill have old sprint and like you say the build quality of new ST1050 seems cheap. I have covered over 100k miles combined on others and just over 15000 on new ST all over UK and europe, the new ST does not seem as good in my opinion, but I may have been unlucky as others on site seem more impressed.

Green Man you won't be a happy bunny if you chop the Daytona for the ST1050 I did and wished I hadn't. I did it for the wife and the leg room on on the back. I've found the ST sadly lacking after the Daytona in all departments. Don't get me wrong the ST is a very good bike, if you are tempteted make sure you take the ST1050 for a very long test at least 1/2 a day as it feels better than it really is in an hour. As for what else is out there I don't know nothing at the moment perhaps the Bandit 1250 personally I'm waiting for the new VFR Honda which according to my dealer will make the ST obsolete over night.

Barney I'm going to look at new VFR also, the only thing that puts me off is the linked braking system.

thaks guys Part of my likes the smug satisfaction of owning 2 different (but both green !!) bikes. SWMBO also likes the Thunderbird but accepts it is for Sunday afternoons not weekends away. . ..
