The Sunday run without a native guide, route finder or (un)natural leader... I will be at nursing a hangover on Sunday morning in a field in Suffolk - the Latitude festival (Glastonbury for Grownups ©) so I won't be there, but... So anyone interested - G could be out testing his new gixxer, DCE could explore the route west for a change, SpdTrp, Fret, Doobs? Perhaps as the Mayfly gets busy on a Sunday when its sunny a vist to Goodworth Clatford is in order?

ah, yes Kung Fu Panda, I am watching Fitzcarraldo, one of my all time fave films, but a poor substitute for Disney CGI and animation I fear that a week before Scropton not too may will have their pass outs signed off.

I'm definitely up for a ride, as I plan to put 600 miles on the Gixxer in around four days. Not sure about leading though, as I'm not very good at it. If I'm up the front I find it seriously hard to resist the urge to pin it, which isn't really the best way forward to maintain harmonious group balance. I'll try to be good - but maybe we could take turns?

You could be correct; G is not known for his 'homing pigeon' capabilities ...... his average journey is usually almost double the distance compared to a 'normal' person ..... tis why his mate Tusk calls him the 'Springer' (as in Spaniel)

Well thanks, the only question to answer now is whether I dare turn up on my TRIumph or my kawaSAKI geuss as this is for triumph owners geuss it will be the TT ( assuming some trouble doesnt befall it between now and then). Almost the full horror story is on my post in the tech board under EFI/tuning, Maybe I will relate the full gruesome details over a shandy or 3 with you fine people this weekend.

Not very long ago, there would have been anything up to 13 or so Triumphs on a Sussex Squadron soiree. These days you'll find the remaining hard core riding marques that span the continents (but not the incontinent - no BMWs as yet). Amongst our midst we have a couple of GSXR 1000s, an Aprilia Tuono, a Buell something or other, a Honda Fartblid, a Yamaha Fazer, a Ducati 996, and... Fuck knows how it managed to sneak in, a Triumph as well. Anyway, Tri-saki - despite the fact that your name has just reminded me of a rather regrettable saki-related incident in an oriental restaurant that saw me barred from said establishment for life - you are most welcome, and what you choose to ride on the day is of no consequence whatsoever. There is no discrimination here! (Apart from the abuse I've received since moving to the dark side, naturally.) Anyway, look forward to seeing you, weather and personal circumstances notwithstanding.

Sorry to hear that, Ethel. And here's me just gone and bought a flashy new bike with clip-ons and everything just so I can keep up with you. I was going to say take it easy and allow the healing process to run its course, but I have no doubt you'll be cranking out the one-arm press-ups and swinging from room to room via the light fittings as I speak. (In the ethically sourced leatherette tu-tu, naturally.) Hopefully you'll be fighting fit to break your Scroppers virginity. Now, where was I? Kitchen?... Nope.... Toothbrush?... Errr... Fridge?... Not this time.... Next door neighbour's bedroom? Dammit.... Ah, yes - to anyone who is dragging themselves away from pruning, preening, parenting, and prevaricating this stunningly sunny Sunday, I plan to hit the Mayfly at around 13:00. So come on out - even if it's only to give me a hard time about my new crotch-rocket and generally take the piss.

Visions of table surfing at the Lamb immediately spring to mind. I've been looking after me ex's Jack Russell, and that's hard enough to deal with - fuck knows how you manage with your two bears. Young G Thank you for your kind words I saw a rather nice looking machine not too dissimilar to yours in Farham earlier in the week. Very striking it looked too with its black vented hugger, and other ancillary bits of black rubber and plastic. Like ST it gave me the embarrassing urge to let its tyres down, which I overcome thankfully. Thankfully, because the 6' 6" brick shit house who owned the bike was astride it at the time. Alas I will have to save my giggles for Friday when, hopefully, my upper body will be ready for the 4.5 hour [ 2 hr Scropton/ Jazz time ] run up north. Ethel

Well, just got back from a very pleasant and relaxing riverside lunch (Mayfly surprisingly quiet). It was good to meet up with everyone - and a couple of new faces, too (TQ's other half and Trisaki - both splendid chaps). But profuse apologies to TQ for holding her up on the way back. Running in speed in the Gixxer is only around 100-110, and after ten minutes I could tell she was champing at the bit. Next thing I know she's thought "Sod this for a game of soldiers", pinned it to the stop, dropped her man and me and left us for dead. Atta girl! If all goes to plan I should have the bugger run in for the Scroppers blat though...
