Just been looking at the manual to try and drop the two vertical dip beam as I keep getting flashed by annoyed car drivers at night. I can't see the adjusters as mentioned in the book? They claim you can get at them without pulling the plastic off? Also wanted to tweak up the rear shock damping, it's supposed to be on the bottom right of the rear shock, don't look like it on mine? Anyone got any photos that might help? thanks

The light adjustment won't make a lot of difference cars always flash ST1050's its the joy of ownership. Rear shock adjustment under fairing below seat on nearside take it up about 10 turns will transform the handling.

I've just taken delivery of my ST 1050 and I've asked Raffs to check and adjust the lights when they do the first service. Cars going in both directions are really suffering. The ones I follow end up pulling over, even at very dangerous places. It's terrible with my wife on the back. (The lights, not the bike!) I'll let you know how it goes after the service adjustment. It can't be right even solo and must be out of MOT spec with a pillion on board. But that aside, this is one great bike! I think I'll get a gel seat though, the std one is a tad uncomfortable on long journeys

Barney, thats the pre-load adjustment and I've sorted that out(static sag) Its the damping that needs winding up. The manual shows that there is damping adjustment on the bottom right of the rear shock (screw adjuster), I can't see it?

Sorry Mike I haven't had to adjust my damping that's always been ok I only needed to do the pre-load. On mine the rear end used to squat in corners making it run wide. I'll take a look at mine later and see if I can locate it on my ST

Compression and rebound damping is on near side of the bike, not off side as in the manual. There is a screw on the bottom of the shock. The picture in the manual shows it's position but it's on the other side of the bike. As far as the lights go you can adjust both low beam units by using a stubby phillips screwdriver, you don't have to remove anything. You have to go more by feel than being able to see what you're doing. It took me about 3 attempts to get mine right for one up, 2 up they will dazzle, but better to blind cars than not see through a corner one up! Lights are still pretty crap though even running Osram nightbreaker lamps (bulbs). Ok in a straight line but going through a corner especially a right hander trying to find the apex is interesting to say the least!

Thanks Vince, I've found the debound damping now I'm looking in the right place, I'll trying firming it up a couple of clicks. As for the lights, I will have a go at ajusting them but it looks a bit of a tricky job. I'm glad its not just me thinking the lights are shite, a 70mph A road right hander the other night just wasn't funny, adrenalin is definately brown.
