Was looking at tyre sizes, what about changing the rear tyre for a 60 section as opposed to a 55 section as standard, which would i assume give a lift (although small) at the rear for free - obviously at the next tyre change?

a 180/55 rear produces a height of 531mm
a 190/50 rear produces a height of 527mm
a 190/60 rear produces a height of 546mm

don't have a height for a 190/55..

Any increase in tyre height will have to be divided by 2 to give the increase in ride height---why??....... Think about it!!

Divide by 2 is ok.

But then again any number between 1 and infinity is also correct.

Dont forget that any change in the rolling radius of the rear wheel will effect the gearing of the bike & if its a later one that has a electric speedo it could be made to read incorrectly

hey manny,
if the 190/55 falls between the 50 and 60 hight that would be 536.5????? soooooo, a hight difference of 9.5mm divide by 2 gives you a ride hight diffo of 4.75mm. would that make much of an improvement to the handling?, also could you get that amount of extra hight by setting the 'sag' a bit stiffer?

Manny,
I wouldn't bother with tyre heights really, cos when it wears down there's gonna less of an improvement anyway.

Do the drag link (or dog bone) mod. You can get very good results from this mod. I paid £16 to a local engineering shop to cut and weld it 13mm shorter. This raises the back about 25mm.

Now thats whatcha call a cheap mod!!
