Question for all you Optimate users out there. Do you get a adaptor/connector with it that connects to the battery permanently and allows it to be plugged in without taking the seat off and mucking about with crocodile clips?

It is a waterproof connector with a little rubber cap to prevent the water getting into it. The cap is attached with a `loop` of rubber which allows it to be wrapped around something to hold it in place. The exposed bottom member of the rear subframe under the seat is the perfect place to have it.

My late Father fitted these to all his cars, and my Mothers! So much easier to charge the battery! Must get to fit some to my bikes! - though, looking - the "Solar Power" unit I bought from Maplins has a different plug, so some rewiring of that unit will be necessary! And, yes - they do work very well, as an alternative/back-up to an Optimate!

Most trickle chargers use an SAE connector that is available at little cost from most electrical suppliers - with or with out caps. Having a few of these connectors with plug caps for bikes, cars, etc. allows you to easily use the charger on multiple vehicles. Inline Image

I hook my Optimate up through the 12v accessory power socket on my Tiger. The socket is standard fit on the Triumph tourers and available as an accessory for the other models. Works for me.

Got one - haven't used it yet, though I have a socket fitted beneath the seat!
