Took the bike to work today in Ipswich and decided to check the fuel before I left for home. The tank lock was a bit stiff and I've managed to snap the key leaving the last 3rd in the lock. Anyone got any bright ideas on how to remove the bit thats left in there?

take out the screws holding it to the tank and maybe you can remove the whole thing and persuade it out by tapping gently ??

What about superglue on the end of stiff wire and a steady quick hand? Wish full thinking, Good Luck!

Got a spare key so not the end of the world. Reckon I might give superglue a bash, failing that I'll be on the phone to a locksmith.

Fragment was really deep so glue/tweezers didn't work. Local lock smith sorted it for a tenner...good as new...result!

try a strong magnet , i've had to do that in a car ignition once , it worked. but it has to be very strong.

If its the same lock as the ST then you can strip the lock down and remove the barrell. Once youve done that you can push the broken key out with a needle as theres a small hole in the bottom. I managed to do the same a few weeks ago on the way back from Knockhill ..........
