I tried to start my Sprint ST yesterday, but all I got when I pressed the button was a loud clicking noise. The battery is new and seems fine. Nevertheless I tried connecting the bike to my car with a set of jump leads but still the same result. Any ideas?

The click, I am guessing, is the headlamp cut out relay engaging everytime you press the start button. (+ve side of starter = OK) There is a good chance it could be the -ve (ground) ... tis a fairly common problem. ...Just to be sure ....have you got a neutral light on? I'd say #1 suspect is the clutch switch or the ground to it .... Pull the wires to the clutch switch and ground them ... If the starter turns when you press the start button then find out where your ground has gone ... quite common is a crimp in the cable to lefthand swithgear (just down from the switches hidden under the insulation) ... it corrodes and you lose your ground ... It has caught quite few on here ... Try that and report back!!!

Thanks. Do I need to remove the fairing to get at these connections, or is there an easier way?

The clutch switch is under the clutch lever on the handlebar ... you should be able to see it without removing any plastic
