Quote: Its got a Bob Farnham 150 BHP at the wheel tuned engine Got a spare engine which is in bits | 150 rwhp, if true, its a good job you got the second bit of the quote.....thats nearly 180 flywheel hp.

He did show me the Dyno readings, all 10 of them, with various variables airbox on /off, pipe on /off etc. Will try and get them to put up. The spare engine was just used as a mock up. It was out of a sprint, so needs a set of Daytona cams etc. He was going to streamline it but went down the 2 stroke route in the end. Just spent 4 hours in the garage making some room for it.

swhy I am reserving judgement; but it could be that he just wasn't using any smoothing on the graph. But it does look a bit odd even then.

Port work needs finishing, I will have rods and a stroker crank if you need one for the 955 motor, it will take you to 1050cc with the crank and rod kit, you keep the deck height the same, You can use the steel liners on the sprint motor and fit 81mm high comp pistons that will give you 1150cc same as our 1050cc to 1150cc kits that will be out soon. PM me if your interested.

Right alot of the work has been done....... Brakes.....check wiring......check (side stand and clutch switch by passed) cooling.......mostly( need an expansion tank and tubing, and a fill up) Throttle bodies and air box......check MAin thing missing is the headers......Got a set of sprint ones with the bike, but they do not fit. Keeping an eye out for some DSSA ones on the bay. Need a rear brake lever and caliper bolt, gasket for the slow idle sensor in the airbox, air filter (do I need one?), chain and front sprocket. Just about to change over the front forks and clip ons. Bob was trying to get the front as low as possible for streamlining so had dropped the forks in the yokes and put the clip ons on top of the top yoke. Need to find out where to mount the fall over switch. Also there is a flexiable hose from the bottom right of the airbox, don't know where that goes. And a big shout to Pete Pellat for his advice and help in allowing me to raid his own stores.

No problem mate. In answer to your air filter question, yes I'd definitely run one, for the tiny amount of difference it will make to power output (especially if it's a K&N or similar), you're better off having a barrier twixt the gravel trap and your precious engine innards !!

Oil and filter changed, dropped the forks out and renewed oil and seals etc. Got a nice set of progressive springs in there that I wasn't expecting. Re-sleeved my knackered triumph carbon race can. Hopefully tomorrow headers will arrive and expansion tank. Then I can try and fire her up.

Yes, thats been the holdup.......Damn hard things to find for the DSSA. Triumph wanted over £700!!!!!!!!Picked up a set on the Bay for £100 Still got lots to do and still needs loads of bits. Its amazing how many small bits you overlook, that turn out to be so important. Need to sort out some race fairing. Again the bay seems pretty limited for DSSA stuff. Any one know if other shells will fit, with small modifications? And if anyone has a spare rear brake lever, drop me a line, again don't want to pay triumph £52.54 +vat.... Or again if other makes fit.

ITS ALIVE......................Its alive I tell you..................... Headers arrived this morning, so put the throttle mod on hold. Well it didn't want to at first, but with a bit of gentle coaxing, a trip down the car supplies for a tin of damp start and a re-think on the wiring, a rework on the petrol feed pipes she fired into life........F**king amazing. The wiring hicup was that the crank sensor was plugged into the wrong connector!!!! Once that was sorted and the damp start sprayed, she fired into a GP style rubble. A few small issues..... Getting water and steam from the radiatior cap, It felt a little loose when put on, but I think its the rad rather that the cap. More investigating to do on that. Did the 3 heat cycle but MIL light still on so going to get Pete's triumph tool. The actual engine sounds as sweet as a bag of spanners in a swamp of iron fillings, but after 2 years of Triumph ownership .........They all do that. And finished the throttle mod, what a difference!

Good news.........bad news................. Good news first. Chain and new rear sprocket on the way. New rear body work also on the way. Exhaust wrap also ordered. Bad news..... Exhaust wrap arrived this morning so out to the garage to remove headers and have a go at wrapping. Bugger, when removing the headers must have caught the bottom lip of the oil cooler because it snapped off covering every thing in brand new oil. Had my first ride today on the new bike. (private road of course) Everthing was great until I came to turn......... Ahhhhhhh yes forgot to pump up the tyres...Doh. Well after doing that little task she felt great. Clutch feels a lot tighter and will take a little getting used to, but apart from that everthing was spot on. Need a rear hump, the front race fairing and a front seat.....Then find the nearest trackday. Inline Image

Rarer than rocking horse crap for the later 2002 model. Had a mail from another user in the states who has a spare set, just trying to get a price. I think for £10 I might as well just butcher these and see how it goes. If the US ones come off get them sprayed and made to look pretty.

The under side will have to be cut as the Tl exhausts do not come under the bike, like the Daytona. So the fairing is in fact too short. All in all looks like the fibre glass will be coming out in the near future.

Holy mother of God. Went out yesterday on the "Custard Beast" Scared the living hell out of me. 1st and 2nd it just wants to lift off. So much faster and powerful than my 955i. Borrowed the triumph diag tool today to check what tune it was running. Turns out it was tune 10093 which is a standard tune for a speed triple. Have now loaded Daytona after market 10129 Right just need a track day now..... All the fairing has been fitted and secured. Oh, and a new battery. The old one decided to swell up like a ballon while charging it. Just lucky it didn't go bang.

B0ll0cks.............Of all the weekends the wife decides to be 40! I can't understand why she is not keen on me going out. Thats just so selfish of her! What do you mean Tony? The ECU had never been touched according to Bob who built the engine? If it had been adjusted, would the name have been changed? If I have loaded a new tune does than mean the old one is now history?

If you've had a lot of work done on the bike's engine, such as flow work, K&N filter, better breathing throttle bodies etc. -- wouldn't you need a custom map to reap the benefits?

Its been on a dyno so either custom map or has it got a Power Comander? It would need one or the other to get it to run right with al that work....yes, the tune is history if you just wrote a new one to the ECU. Maybe the dyno operator saved it?

The bike was faultless, but my riding cannot skills cannot be said to be the same.! I had a small encounter with the gravel at Paddock Hill Bend, which resulted in a bit of mud tracking! No damage just the old pride dented. The bike now needs some TLC over the winter (money permitting) Want a radial front brake master, some new tyes, a new tune, rear shock and if the secret stash can take it, a new paint job! The engine was rock solid, and very quick! Just needs some dyno time to unleash the full potentional. When built and tested on the dyno it was running a standard Speed Trip tune! so there should be a lot more power there!
