With a little help from my friends - cheers Dick C and X-Man Mil light came on during a recent track day, and althogh there were absolutely no symptoms and I carried on through the day - twas in the back of my mind. By luck Dick C who was also there had a Triumph diagnostic gameboy, and it showed an error code of P0113. Unfortunately none of use knew what that meant. Dick called me latter, and it seemed to be a connection error, which X-Man later elaborated on - saying it was intake air temp sensor error. So stripped it down today to reveal that one of it's two wires had broken. Quick stint with the soldering iron and all is well with the world again. cheers guys

No - not on the top, on the side. There are 2 sensors on the airbox - one goes to the thermostat housing which is bolted to the top of the airbox, and one is on the lower right hand side towards the front ( intake air temp). These have connectors which are held in place by a spring wire clip - when you lift this clip out of the way you can then pull off the connector. My problem was that one of the wires to this sensor had broken, causing the ECU to register a fault and so turn on the MIL light. A little time and fiddling with a soldering iron and the problem was sorted.
