The Mole in MCN has been told that the new 2009 model Daytona components are bigger and guesses around a 900cc may be on the cards. Hope so, or it may be a change in bore/stroke to get some more revs out of the 675 and keep the piston speed sensible.

Mmmm... interesting. 900 or so would be plenty and just about perfect if they can keep the weight down. Style 848.. in red.. where do I sign pls? I rode a mate's 1098 couple of weekends ago for most of the afternoon, then accidentally ended up at the dealer and had a go on an 848. The 848.. any day of the week. Unless you are an SBK God on the track.., on the road it's an academical discussion really. But again won't be a larger bike than the 675 to accommodate the tall guys..

They also reckon there's more to Triumph's 2009 model range. Details at the Cologne show in October. Sounds right to me, as all the '09 models are really only updates

I think they are more likely to release a 900 Tiger than a 900 Daytona, hence the development time for the Tiger 'Cub'.

I hope they're right, this time. If they're wrong, there'll be precious little new, on this years NEC stand.

http://www.triumphchepass.....ipi-triumph.htm I believe it came from this site, not sure if it was the same designer as these others. Especially like the Superbike.

Hmmm. I swear that Triumph may have made a 900 Daytona. I may be wrong of course.

Larger Daytona... yet again. You really are not going to be able to bore/stroke the 675 engine enough to make 900cc. The bore centers will need to be further apart, and the crank pins don't have room for much in the way of offset grinding - as Triumph did with the 1050 engines. 750 - 800cc is about as big as as this engine will go. A 4-cylinder 675 works out to be 900cc though. A new engine based on the 675 design could easily be in the future for Triumph - and I expect the 955/1050 design to finally be dropped. The 675 head is leaps and bounds above the 955/1050 design, as are many other factors. My hope would be that the frame would be a new design, with a longer wheelbase, and more room for larger riders.

They've already done bikes to suit a "certain" market.

Just a quick note, I had the pleasure of speaking with a couple of people inside Triumph and of course the subject of new or different models came up. Some of the rough figures they quoted were 800,000 pounds to get crankcase production ready, 650,000 pounds for a bare head to be production ready. So as much as I would like to see several new models every year it gave me a better understanding of the upfront cost of new bikes. Depending on the type and model about 3 million pounds to get it to production. I would love to see a 1075.

I had a 1075 - it was a Mini Clubman! Funny how certain numbers bring back memories of certain times of your life...

Hmm, must have been a long time ago. All the Clubman's were either 998 or 1098 cc

1075 GT - the Clubman was just the bodyshell. Confused a lot of people back in the 80's as well.

Still confused. The GT was 1275 cc. (unless it was a special, rather than a production model)
