With the season drawing into it's final phase - do you think the UK's only representative at the premier level has what it takes? I've never been a huge fan, but I was impressed with his last couple of seasons in WSB. I would have been all thumbs up if he had maintained his early form, but he's really seemed to slump in also-ran territory. Which is a shame, as he doesn't seem to have that sparkle in his rookie season, unlike Lozengo, Dovi. Can he pull it back, for the remainder of this season and into next......?

Dovi and Lorenzo are experienced 250 riders who know the tracks and the paddock. Dovi should have had the Repsol Bike last year and he is riding the basic customer bike I think it goes to prove that no matter how good JT is he will suffer from not being part of the MotoGP paddock and will be given less time to perform because he is 'merely' as Superbike Rider. I think Edwards managed to stay for as long as he has as he was a willing No2 to Rossi in the factory Yamaha.

Dont be to tough on Toseland. MotoGp isnt a level playing field and names like Rossi and Pedrosa carry far to much influence on rules and resources. The fact that Ben Spies has been locked out of the series says it all and heaps shame on Suzuki. Pinna

There was always a bit of Tim Henman about JT - When asked if their going to win, they answer that they'll ' do their best' But he pulled it out of the hat in WSB - riding a determined aggressive campaign that won him the title. IMHO - he needs to do that AND more again if he wants to mix it with the big boys. No point in whining that the likes of Rossi / Stoner / Peddler et al are getting better treatment from the factories -- he has to get himself into that scene, like Dovi has...... Question is...can he?

Next year JT has to be getting into the top 6 to give himself the chance of getting a factory ride in 2010. The problem is that the to 6 bikes seem to be locked out at for the next couple of years

I think he has had a good season, equally as good as most newcomers to the series. His team obviously have faith in him.

Indeed - if he manages to finish the season 10th overall, surely that's not too shabby. Seems to be about the level (or better) that most WSB world champs slot into in Moto GP. But I'd like to see more of the JT we saw at the beginning of the season though, when he seemd really fired up and agressive, and wouldn't take any crap from anyone.

Seemed a good rookie year to me He did seem to fade a little, but 10th isn't bad in a MotoGP grid. He had, relatively, poor seasons in WSB, and came back to win a 2nd time.

It took him 3-4 years to come good in WSB, i think he has some podiums in him maybe even a couple of wins. He very meticulous in his preparation, but his schedule seems to be getting in the way at the moment. He is a top bloke, i hope he proves the doubters wrong! ...

Is it just me or does there seem to bit a bit of pleasure in some of the media that he is having problems. It seems to be that the more successful our riders are, the less popular they become.
