Speed Triple 955i (02-04)

Hey guys.
New around here, been reading for abit gathering information.
I got a damaged '02' speed triple that is just about road worthy again (need a R/S standard footrest if anyone has one lying around).
The plan was to build a pretty much full on streetfighter, hence why i went the damaged route.
Though the damage on the bike i got was an easy repair, so i thought get it done and on the road as cheap/quick as possible and hopefully ride it alittle this yr and start the modding over the winter.

Im after ideas for the project though so i can start collecting bits from thebay and such, im also going to have ago at fabricating as many parts as i can myself.

My big plans are rather getting left by the wayside.. I planned to powder coat in matt black and gloss black the bodywork, though the bike i have picked up is roulette green, and i really like it.. In fact it is growing on me everytime i go into the garage to tinker...

The exhaust is abit of a problem on this bike, not many nice alternatives.. Im after cosmetitic over power gains but gains would be nice, whatever goes on must be a massive weight loss!! I planned underseat. Though i have changed my mind after trowling through photos, i dont think they work so well with the SSSA, too much shiney link pipe on show. So im thinking stumpy, i have cme across a few interesting threads regarding people using/modding R6 cans. Though not many expand on the idea. I like the 07/08 R6 stubby cans are these an almost straight swop within reason?

I have a bit of a problem with the seat unit too, its massive!
Im thinking of putting an MV agusta seat unit on - not that origional i am aware, but i think the curves of the seat unit really complement the curves of the fuel tank, plus its a gorgeous unit.. Do i paint this black or green though....

Front end. I have always had big sportsbikes, the front of naked bikes is very cluttered, cables/wires/brake lines.. Ugly indicators and mirrors.
Not sure how, but i need to de-clutter this some.
USD front forks were also on the list, but i quite like the beefy standard forks. Would USD forks improve the handling any (in real world street riding)?
Do the bar end mirrors get in the way at all when filtering thropugh traffic?

Im sure i have forgotten half of what i wanted to ask, but i think this was a long enough post for the first one. Sorry about all the ranting, just thinking out loud alot i think.

Aprecciate any input you guys n offer about any of the points no matter how small.

Cheers guys
Mark

think you'll find if you get the front wheel 2 foot or more of the deck, the mirrors won't catch on anything in traffic. sorry, couldn't resist. welcome to the mad house by the way, and good luck with the project.

Thanks again guys.
Yeah maybe that should have been my first 3 or 4 posts.. i got carried away.
Nice find with the pic trevski. Doesnt have the impact i imagined though really. Im thinking the MV unit looks alittle small, but shows of the SSSA just luvly!
Cant decide if im back to the drawing board with the seat unit now..
