The Summer is ebbing ...

Soon the trees will don their golden autumnal ball-gowns and the geese will look longingly toward foreign climes ...

And we all need to get a few decent thrapes in ...

So how's about a decent run next Sunday ?

Up to Hartside ?

sign below if not:-

washing hair
painting scullery
moving furniture
engraving candles
doing something that wife has told one to do

So how does this sound for a plan.

Meet at the M6 Burton in Kendal Services (north of Carnforth) @ 10:30.

Leave the M6 at the South Lakes turn off then through Kendal to the A6

Up the A6 to Penrith then on to Hartside to arrive there at 12:30 approx.

Back via Alston and that road past that waterfall thingy ...

Weather permitting of course ....

If everyone checks on here Sunday at 9 ish I'll check forecasts etc and see if it's a goer.

about 200 for me. Just a bit drizzley stuff on the way back. Stopped at my dads 10 miles from home. When I came out of there it was monsooning stairrods of water. My water proof Frank Thomas gloves are waterproof. And they fill up nicely with the water running down my jacket sleeves and hold it all in!

Did 3 bike van dyke ever find his missing headscarf?

Well I enjoyed all of it bar the last few miles when I was getting quite achey.

Some fantastic roads and at least the rain makes one go at a pace which means that one can see where one is .

Except that you can't ... coz of the rain ...

ho hum

Never mind .. still enjoyed it and it I'm glad that we made the effort ..

With our mercurial climate it would be very easy to never get out on bikes coz of potential down-pours.

Sorry I missed out.

295 miles in the cold pissing rain.

Great view of Ben Nevis (below the 10 ft cloud level)
Glencoe still impressive even in the rain.
