I've been riding with "Held" gloves for a few years now. They are Rooskin and I have found them to be very good. 3 of the fingers are worn through on the clutch hand so I guess its time for something new.

I want a decent quality glove, good protection but not too chunky so to avoid bunching around the fingers. Goretex waterproofing would be nice too.

Any suggestions or testimonials?

Thanks for looking Jim. I'm toying with the idea of matted leylandi fur, I think they are made in Lightwater in Surrey!

I bought a pair of Racer gloves a couple of years ago and I cant really fault them. They seem to be really well constructed and very comfortable.
They werent cheap but I think they were well worth the £99 I paid.
Something similar to these :

I've got a pair of these in black and they are very good the Gortex is bonded to the inner and outer so they don't bunch up

I've got a pair of gloves from a bike show bargain basket.
I only ever wear out 3 fingers on my right glove.

No, but Alpinestar Tech Road GTXs do, if you're after a waterproof sporty glove that's not too bulky. T X-trafit ones in Barney's link are more of a touring glove and less protective than a sports glove.

Personally, I prefer to atick to a proper leather summer sport glove for feel and protection and take a pair of warmer goretex ones with me if the forecast looks dodgy or I think it's gonna get chilly after dark.

But i'm not answering your question 'cos you're horrid and sold my car

If you want a good well protective leather sports glove then the Arlen Ness ones in the 08 Gericke catalogue are nice. Plenty of protection - double leather on palms, armoured knuckles, wrap round cuff with scaphoid protector. seem well made and comfy. We had a pair of the £79.99 ones in the other day that I tried on and there's a £119.99 one too with more armour etc.

[edited]: take these - please

Teknic Violators (and suit)
I'm trying to sell on ebay (#160255308480). They're size large (which is really a tad smaller than others this size). I wore them about 4 or 5 times but the knuckle on my left hand rubbed too much. Very nice gloves (but not waterproof)

I was looking for $65 (plus shipping from California) which is less than half...

Thanks for all the help and info chaps. Just to tie it off, I tried on loads of gloves at several shops and found amongst other things that I've got funny shaped hands. They all seemed so bloody small!
In the end I chose "Held Phantoms". Nice quality, no Goretex but could'nt get the feel I wanted from a goretex glove. I had to get size 12, the largest they do. Why does everyone have such small hands, one shop didn't have a single pair that fitted. The market doesn't seem to cater for a real man's girth!

Its just the same at the durex shop!!!!!

Anyway the Phantoms are nice gloves, well armoured and nice Rooskin. Paid £119, rather a lot really but as they qualify as safety equipment and using the optimistic accounting system I've saved a fortune.

Ah, yes... The good old optimistic accounting system. It really is quite fantastic.

I've just applied the very same system to justify the quite frankly irrational purchase of two new motorcycles within an 8-month period, and am actually now wealthier by some considerable margin.

Wibble... mang....

I'm considering a pair of the Arlen Ness ones after checking the cost price to me. My Belstaff Samurais are getting a bit old and the unworn Kushitani GPRs I've got are a bit long in the finger (fantastic glove though, that there Doohan used to wear em - not my pair though).

Left it to the last minute to find a pair of waterproof gloves prior to a two week trip through Europe and ended up buying a pair of 60 quid Frank Thomas jobbies....big mistake. I didn't expect them to be superb but did expect them to keep me dry longer than 2 minutes, got a refund and wouldn't go near them again if you paid me.

Couple of the guys on tour had 12 quid items from Aldi that were 100% waterproof, not sure what they'd be like in a spill but cheap for a second pair of gloves for the occasional shower.

I always wear my luvly Alpinestars GP Pro gloves, whatever the weather. If it's cold, I use silk inner gloves with them, and if it's wet I wear Gericke overmitts - never let me down yet.

I've been using these this year so far and they're pretty good. They fit me better than Alpinestars and were only €79,95

I've got Alpine Star SP2's. I reckon they're great, but the sizing is very small. I normal take a medium, but my SP2's are XL?????
