I think the GPS based ones, will tell you where the fixed sites are.

But if a plod with a mobile is any good, he'll have you, before you know he's there.
(and I've got a feeling they're now illegal)

I use an Escort 8500,hidden behind screen........

convinced it saved me at least two tugs, going to and from Chicago....one was a nice 2 mile, downhill, cruising at 125 when it lit up like Blackpool...1 mile further was plod, in the median...............lots of falsies at automatic roadwork signs though.......still worth slowing down for..........!!

They are now illegal, but if one uses a GPS they are classed as "Safety Cameras" so you can get away with it.

Or just slow down.

LOL - saw just that a week ago.
2 cars, rear-ended, 10 yards before a fixed camera.

Neither party looked happy

Two of the rear end crashes I saw were a direct result of the camera partnership.
The camera and tripod was on the hard shoulder under a bridge in the shade and the van was parked on the slip road out of sight.
This ment you didn't see it until the last minute the operators must have known what was happening by the number of skid marks on the other lanes.

Radar detectors are pointless, and I've had a few.

Even the best ones give loads of false alarms to the point that you end-up ignoring them.

Lazer is used more widely now (like in camera vans) and that's hard to detect unless you get scatter off another vehicle - normally if it goes off it's too late.

Because when a radar detector is set off by every phone mast, automatic door opener, and god knows what else, you end-up ignoring them: it's human nature. Like I said, most most forces now use lazer anyhow.
