40s to 45 miles per galon seems to be about it. I had hoped for 50 ish, although it might be possible if went very very slower.

it's an 865cc engine and they aren't exactly light weight.

I'm sure if you were going for a Sunday afternoon bimble you'd get 50+ easily

I get 50mpg on my not exactly lightweight 1200 twin!

Sorry I'm not out to knock Triumph.

what size is your engine ?

A bigger engine will be able to pull better using lower revs

Adventurer (96-98)

18 Jun 2008 03:38
I just returned an '07 Bonnie that a friend loaned me while my Adventurer was shopped. I checked the MPG several times and the best it did was 34MPG! I was appalled that a bike with no more power than it had, would get less than 45.
For Trump sakes, my '96 Adv. gets 47 MPG doin 70-75 MPH, with a head wind!
I told my pal I'd not trade even, mine for his!
Side bar- $751 weak ones for 1-radiator cap, 1-fan sensor switch, 1-pickup coil, installed!!!
I'm hoping to at least see some stock shares I may have purchased!

What are you boys doing wrong, normal riding on my 01 bonnie (up to 70ish) gets me around 58mpg.

Thruxton 900 (04->)

50+mpg is possible with my tuned Thruxton with a little restraint, and it has not dropped below 42 even when thrashed to within an inch of its life. The more efficient engine and longer gearing no doubt help. My T/Bird Sport regularly achieves over 60mpg with a best of 64mpg and a worst of 51mpg.

Me and missus just come back from a 2 week touring hols round France 2500miles on a bonnie fully loaded avg 50+ miles per gallon.
If you want to headdown ass up 80-90 mph for miles and still get 50mpg + then the bonnie is not for you.

I got 43 mpg with the 904 engine, and I get 42 mpg (US) with the 1100 engine. I don't remember what I got with the 790 engine but it was similar once the bike was jetted and breathing properly. These are sport-riding miles.

Had a Scrambler (fuel injected) courtesy bike yesterday.
Not the same tune as the Bonnie, but did 36 miles on about 2.6 litres.

By my reckoning thats about 63 mpg.
Could live with that
