Does anyone know where I can get a shorting plug for a 97 T595 wiring harness where the alarm plugs in. I believe my alarm is Donald Ducked but want to make sure. I bought the bike last year and it didn't have the plug with it. The local dealers say Triumph don't do one unless you buy the whole harness ( I think I'll pass on that one! ). Regards Mark

That's the scenario I've been dreading since I installed my alarm (loosing the shorting plug) I've had to remove alarm for repairs and it'd be a hassle to down the bike for an alarm. The shorting plug if you can't find one is only a two wire short, as you look at the connector from the bike it would be the upper left two pins probably #1 and #2 verify this with manual. Could make a push on shorting wire. luck

Mark, All it is is a plastic socket and wire. I will have a look at mine tonight (if I can find it) and let you know the pins. You should be able to bodge one together using about 5 cm of wire and a couply of push in pins from your local maplins.

Not sure what you guys are on about here? Do you need this shorting plug thingy to make the bike work if the alarm has to be disconnected? I had a triumph alarm fitted last year when I bought the bike, dealer never mentioned it and certainly didn't give me a plug when I went to pick the bike up. Do I need to go back and ask him for one?

If you had the alarm installed by a dealer he has a form to send in with the shorting plug to datatool corp there in UK. Us in US at least the ones that installed our own alarms keep the shorting plug in hand in case of the inevitable. Think it's a major insurance issue in UK. I have been in contact with datatool several times, they are very helpful. It is a one wire short on pins 1 and 2 the way I view it.eric

Yep, that's correct. As you look at the connector, you have banks of pins. Top Row: 3pins, a gap, 2pins Bottom Row: 3pins, 2pins 2pins Short out pins 1 & 2, which are the first 2 pins in the top left hand bank, from the left.

On the subject of alarms, i'm currently doing some work on my bike and needed to remove the battery, i failed to switch the alarm off correctly and when i went to undo the battery terminals the dam thing went off, instead of going through the procedure again i took the battery off, the fuses out etc etc etc, you guessed it, the alarm continued to sound!! I then for some bizarre reason detached it from the loom, reasoning to myself that this would silence it, nah!!! wrapped it in a towel and chucked it in the beer fridge at the back of my garage(for soundproofing of course!) returned to pub, the root of the problem i suspect, came home when it had died.Anyone had a dead alarm battery? can i replace it or do i need to contact datatool? advice greatly appreciated(yea ok, stay out of pub before working on bike) cheers, dave

you can replace that 9v battery no problem. When I work on my bike and need to silence the alarm I either go to service mode or take the top off the alarm and pull the speaker wire plug. Keeps him stiffled for the duration. then after getting everything sorted reset the alarm and reconnect speaker, he's a happy kamper.eric

HI All, I have had all the anove issues and problems so have taken off the datatool 3 alarm from my 2005 Sprint RS. I have shorted out pins one and two and have all the right noises and lights to start it. Unfortunately there is no action from the start button, pump runns and stops as it should but when depressing the starter button I get nothing. Help.....

Mr C you just need to connect the alarm back to the bike and it will recharge the battery in the unit.

Hi guys, If you go to your triumph dealer and give them your bike details they will supply you with a blanking plug, they are about £3.50ish. With repect to a DIY linking out job, try linking out 1&2 and 3&5, should fire of the button with these links.

These guys also carry the aFlasher blanking plug for later Triumphs that have the 2 jumper wire plugs from new: http://www.triumph-online.co.uk/ecliptech--a-flasher-tr.....-1050-751-p.asp Flashes the alarm LED, has a low battery warning and turn signal reminder.
