I've got a real problem below 4500rpm with holding a constant throttle.

Engine stalls occasionaly at tickover wich isn't constant, varying between 1400 and 1000 rpm

3500-4500 rpm it runs great on acceleration, but on constant throttle it stumbles / stutters.

Any sugestions?

I think it may be the TPS.

If I put a new TPS on...Will I need the ECU reset to suit???

A problem on each cylinder I guess going by the triple post.

Have you had the CO checked recently? Any change to the exhaust system?

[edited]:

ive got a similar problem with mine . i think its the TPS, looks like either buying a tuneboy or trip to the stealer to set the TPS up.

No new modifications at all.

Was running smooth as can be with pauses etc...throughut the rev range.

Just had dealer reset tune, O2, trim etc... etc..

Needed it reset after bad mechanic fouled it all up

I had exacly this problem after a valve clearance / throttle balance which was carried out by the dealer. I took the bike back and he fixed it immediately - TPS adjustment is very simple.

When he brought the bike back round he left it with the kill switch set to "off" (they always do) - took me a few curses and wandered back into the shop to say "now it won't start at all!", only to have him point out the switch (and apologise)

Moral:
1. TPS is easy for a dealer to adjust - a matter of seconds
2. Always check the kill switch first...

Thanks Steve, that makes sense....

I just thought the TPS may have worn after 20K miles.

Thre were no faluts found on the diagnostic computer

So maybe it isn't broken, just need resetting.

I'll go see if they can reset it tommorow.

Phil, Reads like a TB balance is needed and/or there's a vacuum line unconnected or leaking.

I may run over to B-USA tomorrow if they've recieved some spring clips I had on order for the '98. May also pick up a spare fuel pump relay (looking for what is causing an intermittant engine kill when hitting a sharp bump which retured on the way home from MSR-H).

If you want your bike worked on there.

Insist, I do mean Insist that RICK does the work....

I won't say more, ( read into that what you like)

But do insist on Rick if you like your Triumph

Ashley and Greg in Parts Dept are good people too.

I may go see them

But had the TB balanced just last week along with everything else.

Must get another Dyno run done to set up the Power Commander.

But as nothing on bike has changed except the meachanic who installed the wrong tn and set the idle to 1700 I can't understand why the previous set up shouldn't work just fine.

Phil, I think I could've written some 'between the lines text' about the service dept. I agree Ashly is pretty good, do miss Michelle who worked there earlier on. I haven't had too many dealings with Greg.

Let me know when you plan to put yours on the dyno, I can bring the '98 to see how far down it is Also read that the PCIII works better with the base tune, do a search to double check.

Brad

PS My clips arrived so I'll likely be there around two or so.

Yes, base tune is what is needed for PC III.

Greg is Ahleys boss as such, he's a really good too.

Rick is best of the service Techs and I can't say enough good things about his skill and knowlege. That's genuine praise...

The others...well!! The les the better.

I booked up for a 10 a.m. Tune Download last week...

it was gone 12.15 before yhey even took the bike through and the Service manager didn't even have the decency to appologise for keeping me waiting or give an explanation....
