Loads of WD40 and leave it soaking overnight Failing (like RB says) that it needs stripping down

yup - mine was properly seized, WD40 etc made no difference. I stripped and cleaned and re-greaed by following this really uesful site http://www.bowl-of-mice.pwp.blueyonder.co.uk/Hub.html and I'm a bit of a mechanical numpty. Not technically difficult, but allow yourself a bit of time (and possibly get a mate to help with rear wheel removal)

Welcome MICHAEL - do a search on here as there have been quite a few threads with seized adjusters and even one where it was too loose IIRC! Nifty trick is to put bolt through from the bottom of the arm with a steel rule or similar in the pinch gap to partially open it which helps WD "soak" in..

did mine a couple of weeks back.......mine was stuck to the caliper bracket as well.....took a sledge hammer to it (gentlry of course!) ...follow these instructions and you cant go wrong..... http://www.richard-halford.co.uk/chain.html no pictures on the site, but it all makes sense if you keep reading it. no need for one of the long adjusters once you have done the job!

I had the same problem & found out what it was during a rebuild I did last winter . The problem isnt the adjuster its the rear brake caliper mount . It mounts round the adjuster & over a pin in the swing arm that holeds it still . Brake dust & road crap build up behind it & sieze it to the swing arm so when you try to turn the adjuster it holds it solid . I had to use a hammer & chisel to brake it free from the swing arm it was so solid once removed cleaned & rebuilt I can adjust the chain with the lightest of pushes
