for normal road use, does it matter if you have a 180 or 190 rear tyre?

probably not, so you might as well stick to the recommended size

i think 190 is a waste of time. and the advantages ppl feel are more be cause of how it comprimises grip not makes it better. i wouldnt do it if it was me.

A 180 on my 916 was so much nicer to ride than the 190.

IIRC the 916 ran a 5.5" rear rim though. SSSA Triumphs run a six incher, which is too wide for a 180. It's all been debated on here countless times, but the short answer is (for a 6 inch rim) 190 - correct 180 - wrong. Beyond that, all I'm saying is AAAAAAAAARRRRRRGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!

I just put a 190/55 on my S3, and the difference from the 190/50 is amazing. Turns in like a 600! Ok a very porky 600.

Ade is correct, for a six inch rim you need a 190 as 180 is too narrow and distorts the carcass (not much bt it does) and as I was the first to mention many moons ago 190/55 gives you the best of both worlds, the slightly sharper handling with a bigger contact patch than you are ever going to get with a 180.
